Oman North Pole Expedition
Oman North Pole Expedition
March 2009
Nabil led the “Oman North Pole Expedition,” taking on the challenge of reaching the Magnetic North Pole. The Polar Race spanned 650 km from Resolute Bay in Nunavut, Canada—one of the northernmost inhabited places—to the magnetic North Pole. The journey involved traveling on foot and skis while pulling a 50-kg sledge with all his belongings.
This journey through frozen seas and Arctic islands exposed Nabil to extreme conditions, including temperatures plummeting to minus 81°C and winds reaching up to 70 km/h. He encountered polar bears, faced frostbite, and endured arctic shock.
In the final stretch, Nabil and his team walked for 24 hours non-stop to be the first to plant the Omani flag, claiming a historic victory in this grueling challenge.
